Jay-Z celebrated the grand opening of his new 40/40 Club Thursday night with style, grace and a lot of celebrity faces.

The Barclays Center is a new asset in entertainment and living in Brooklyn that has not only Jay’s 40/40 Club but an array of 101 luxury suites, retail shops, and multiple bars. In the months to follow it will also be the prime destination for musical acts like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, as well as sporting events, including The Nets and College ball.

But Thursday was Jay-Z’s night to shine as 40/40’s Grand Opening was the social event of the week. He looked as dapper as Mad Men’s Jon Hamm in a smooth fitting suit. He told the press:

“I walked around here earlier and I just seen everybody busy and at work trying to finish up and it was a great feeling. A guy stopped me in the hallway and said, ‘Man this is a great thing for New York City.’ And that’s what the whole thing was about.”

Jay wasn’t the only star there of course. Friends like Rihanna and J. Cole also showed up to show support. Other stars in attendance were former Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon, Angela Yee, Anthony Mandler, and Single Ladies’ Denise Vasi. One face that was clearly missing? Beyonce. She was probably home with Blue Ivy.

About sunnymenagerie

Socially awkward in most situations most 25 years olds would call easy, that’s me. TV is my soul mate, Music is my mistress and writing is my best friend. Without those three things, I’d be in an insane asylum calling myself Rosa Parks, refusing to sit in the back of the so called bus. I know more about pop culture and celebrities than I do about my family history, and I’d like to keep it that way. Words I live by: We´re all tiny books in one big compilation called life. Some of us will wait for what seems like forever for our climactic part to come. Others will have a romance novel their entire life. Or maybe one filled with just adventure. Or one that is a poetic tragedy. Then, there are those that will have best sellers. You know, the ones that everyone wants to read and base their versions on? Don´t forget the little paperbacks sold at the carwash that only a select few will ever lay eyes on. We´re all born with the power to either take what was written for us or choose our own adventures.
