Nicki Minaj doesn’t seem like the type of celeb who’d support GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, but that’s the impression some are taking from her latest release.
On Lil Wayne’s new Dedication 4 mixtape, Minaj can be heard rapping this line: “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy bitches is f—g up the economy.” Is she being serious or sarcastic?
If Minaj is actually throwing her support to Romney, it would represent a total turnaround from her statements of just a few months ago. Following the death of “Moesha” actress Yvette Wilson in June, Minaj tweeted this to President Obama on the Affordable Care Act:
“That should be a God given right! Even with Obama Care, too much involved. Just give FREE health care to all. @barackobama What can we do?” She added, “@BarackObama I wouldn’t mind the millions they took if it was going to healthcare. Why should a poor person struggle to pay for MEDS sir?”
One who’s not taking the controversial diva seriously is Talib Kweli, who wrote: “Just heard a dude on Hot97 say he won’t let his daughter listen to Nicki Minaj cuz she endorses Romney. Really? That’s what it took? Lol. I doubt Nicki seriously supports Romney. Her lyrics ain’t political. She just wants y’all to talk about her & she winning cuz it’s working!”
Kweli definitely has a point, because it’s really hard to imagine Nicki Minaj sharing a political opinion with the likes of Ted Nugent, Hank Williams Jr., Chuck Norris, Victoria Jackson and Clint Eastwood.
