Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” promoters diss the King of Pop via email. Meanwhile, his kids have no money to their names.
The LA Times got their hands on roughly 250 pages worth of emails between AEG executives that show concern over Jackson being able to pull through and perform at the 02 Arena comeback tour. Most of these concerns were due to their worry over Jackson’s mental and physical health.
AEG’s Randy Phillips sent one note to his boss, AEG President Tim Leiweke, that Jackson was “an emotionally paralyzed mess,” he also added, “MJ is locked in his room drunk and despondent. I (am) trying to sober him up.”
The emails might be the key factor in a pair of lawsuits set to go to trial in 2012. The shows’ insurers’ want the judge to invalidate a $17.5 million policy that AEG received with false claims about Jackson’s health and ability to perform. On the flipside, Jackson’s heirs have filed their own lawsuit accusing AEG of placing pressure on Jackson to go through with the shows despite signs that he wasn’t at his best.
Michael Jackson died three years ago now, and as one can tell from above, he’s still creating controversy about money. Speaking of, one would think Jackson’s three kids, Prince, 15, Paris, 14, and nine-year-old Prince Michael II aka Blanket, would be set for life…but that’s not the case.
Jackson’s kids are broke, for now. They have a trust fund, but it remains empty with lawyers going through the late singer’s debts and legal bills. At this rate it may be five years before anything from his earnings is seen in that fund.
While the kids have an allowance, live in a gated mansion, attend private school and are protected by security 24/7, they’re still nowhere near getting a penny from their father’s legacy.
The good news is that when and if the lawyers ever finish with their jobs, those kids will be financially fine. Although they’ll have to wait until they hit 21 to gain access to their fund. They will then get lump sums when they reach ages 30, 35 and 40.
They pretty much have nothing to worry about.
