“The Bourne Legacy” hits theaters today, and this could be the film that finally makes Jeremy Renner a huge star—after more than 15 years of acting. Can this handsome hunk fill Matt Damon’s shoes? Here are a few facts about his life.

-Jeremy Lee Renner was born in 1971 in Modesto, CA, the oldest of seven children born to parents who wed as teenagers.

-Renner worked as a make-up artist! He did this to supplement his income while playing numerous small parts on TV and in films. He also co-owns a home renovation business with a friend.

-Renner first received major attention in 2002 after playing serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. The film “Dahmer” gave him his first starring role.

-The actor scored his first Academy Award nomination for his role in the 2009 film “The Hurt Locker.” He was also nominated for a Golden Globe. He received a second nod for “The Town.”

-In 2011, Renner co-starred with Tom Cruise in the fourth installment of the “Mission Impossible” series, “Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol.”

-When he’s not acting, Renner is also a singer/songwriter and musician.

-Renner is an avid biker and rode up to the Australian premiere of “The Bourne Legacy” on a motorcycle.

-Renner is currently single, after his 4½ year relationship with aspiring actress Jes Macallan ended two years ago.

-He received a $5 million paycheck for his starring role in “The Bourne Legacy.”
