Swedish House Mafia’s Dublin concert turns into a chaotic riot…
Imagine dancing the night away while your favorite group is performing, and then suddenly feeling a knife go into your back? Unfortunately, this is what happened to several attendees Saturday night in Ireland at one of Swedish House Mafia’s final shows together.
30 people were arrested at the show, a total of nine were stabbed, and one 20-year-old man has died from a suspected drug overdose. All of the victims were in their late teens, and early twenties. One 23-year-old suspect is believed to have stabbed at least four victims in the spree, and will be facing a judge Monday morning.
John Balfe, an editor for entertainment.ie said that inside the show, he “saw several fights, lots of drug-taking and people out of their mind on drink. It was quite an overwhelming experience at times.”
Swedish House Mafia released this statement on their Facebook page:
We played a festival in Ireland at the weekend and reports of incidents are coming to us. We didn’t see anything but have asked for all the info and are respectful of the promoter’s need to wait and give us all the clear facts.
When we know more we will liaise with the festival promoter directly on what we can do to help but for now we have to respect their request to us that we remain quiet and respectful of their event safety processes.
The festival itself was amazing and we had no idea this had happened and neither did the other numerous artists who played. Once we know all the facts we will deal with it in the best way we can. Thank you. Swedish House Mafia.
