The late great comedian who made us gasp for air when laughing too hard, now has a street named after him. Bernie Mac, who passed away in August of 2008 will never be forgotten…and the city of Chicago is making sure of that.
A ceremony was held in the Englewood neighborhood of the city, and was attended by 200 people, including Mac’s widow, and daughter. There was a performance by the cheerleaders from a local elementary school, and remarks by a couple of Mac’s comedian friends.
His daughter, Je’Niece McCullough said, “I hope this street naming is a beacon of light in this community. It should remind people that they can do whatever they want to do in life.”
