It’s so funny how many father’s attempt to come back into their child’s life, AFTER they see how successful they’ve become. Well, Adele’s not having it!
Last year, her estranged father Mark Evans, who left Adele with her single mother when she was just a toddler, thought he was going to get his 15 minutes of fame by talking with a British tabloid. In the interview, Evans subliminally tries to take credit for Adele’s grammy-winning songs, claiming that they have more to do with their father/daughter relationship, than her relationship with an ex-boyfriend.
Evans says: “When she sings, it’s so beautiful, but it brings back too many memories. It’s too painful. There’s so much regret on my part — regret that I wasn’t a better father to her. I let her down badly, and I wish I could turn the clock back and do things differently.”
Adele was not at all happy with her father’s statements, and she recently expressed her feelings about it to Vogue Magazine:
“I was actually ready to start trying to have a relationship with him. He’s f***ing blown it. He will never hear from me again. Because there is nothing that would upset me more than my dad being bribed by the press. It’s like, ‘Just let them run it, then. Don’t you give them ammunition’. It makes me angry!
To come back after 10 years and be like, ‘Maybe her problem with men comes down to me’. It’s like, ‘F*** off! How dare you comment on my life?’ It makes my blood boil. There’s consequences other than just getting a bit of fucking money that lasts you half a year. It blows my mind. ‘I love her so much’. Really? Why are you telling me that through a newspaper? If I ever see him I will spit in his face.”
Well…can’t say I blame her. He clearly was seeking money and attention.
